Before you agree
Request a written quotation identifying the legal contracting trader, address, precise works, materials, quantities where relevant, preparation, drainage, waste removal, exclusions and responsibilities for permissions. Confirm access requirements, estimated start and completion dates and how weather or unforeseen ground conditions will be handled.
Price, deposits and variations
The written quotation must explain its validity period, total price including applicable taxes, or how a price that cannot be calculated in advance will be worked out. Any deposit, stage payments and balance date must be expressly agreed before acceptance. There is no automatic deposit percentage or blanket non-refundable deposit stated on this website. Changes to the scope or cost should be agreed in writing before additional work proceeds.
Planning, drainage and permissions
Planning, drainage, building regulations, access and highway permissions may depend on the project. Agree who will check and obtain each required permission before work starts; do not assume that all driveway or roofing work is exempt.
Quality, completion and guarantees
Consumer services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Confirm snagging, handover, maintenance advice and the exact terms of any additional guarantee in writing. Manufacturer cover and workmanship cover may differ. No blanket ten-year or insurance-backed guarantee is created by this page. Statutory rights are unaffected.
